On 2 July 2025, the Society of Acoustics (Singapore) held its Annual General Meeting, bringing members together to reflect on the past year, celebrate contributions, and chart our way forward.

President’s Report
Dr. Linus Ang opened the session by sharing updates on the society’s identity and international engagement. A key milestone was the launch of our refreshed branding and domain, underscoring SAS’s unique standing in Singapore and abroad. Dr. Ang also highlighted upcoming conference bids, including ICA 2031 and INTER-NOISE 2032, which will strengthen our international visibility.
Financial Report
The outgoing Honorary Treasurer, Ms. Seow Khei Yinn, presented the financial overview for 2024. The society remains financially healthy, with stable reserves held across accounts and fixed deposits. Income and expenses declined slightly compared to 2023 due to the absence of major conferences, but the society continues to prioritise cost efficiency and member engagement.
Honouring Distinguished Members
Two long-standing members were conferred the title of Honorary Fellow:
Dr. Lim Kian-Meng
Dr. Venugopalan Pallayil
Both fellows have made outstanding contributions that shaped the society’s growth and strengthened its international standing.

New Appointments
The AGM also marked a leadership transition for the new term:
Dr. Vincent Hii was elected as the Honorary Treasurer.
Mr. Edwin Yap was elected as the Honorary Auditor.
Dr. Wu Shuin Jian was appointed as Chair (Outreach), a key role in expanding SAS’s reach and strengthening membership.
The committee also announced plans to align all office bearer terms to 2027, ensuring smooth succession planning and future opportunities for wider participation.
Industry Sharing
Lastly, Ms. Suery Du, Sales Manager of Guangzhou DP Anechoic T&E Co., Ltd., introduced the company’s businesses in the development of acoustics testing instruments and the construction of acoustics laboratories, while also sharing several success case studies. Members were actively engaged throughout the session.

Networking Dinner
The evening closed with a networking dinner, where members and guests continued their conversations in a more informal setting. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, build new ties, and strengthen the sense of community within SAS.

Looking Ahead
The society remains committed to growing its membership, expanding outreach, and continuing to bring major international acoustics conferences to Singapore. With a strengthened leadership team and a shared vision, SAS is well-positioned to foster a vibrant professional community.
